Independent Testing With Documented Product Impact

QNAP Systems, Inc. is a Taiwanese corporation specializing in network-attached storage appliances used for file sharing, virtualization, storage management and surveillance. Spun out of IEI Integration Corporation in 2004, QNAP is headquartered in New Taipei City, maintains offices in 16 countries and has more than 1,000 employees. It has been a member of the Intel Intelligent Systems Alliance since 2011.

Before official releases, QNAP invites customers to evaluate beta products and submit detailed feedback. Bilal Abid participated in two global programs—earning winner recognition in 2017 and the exceptional-winner distinction in 2019.

QTS 4.4.1 introduced Linux Kernel 4.14 LTS alongside CacheMount, HBS 3, SSD and Qtier enhancements, self-encrypting drive support and Fibre Channel SAN capabilities. The global program invited customers to test the beta release and provide structured technical feedback.

Testing was completed over 22 days. The findings were then compiled within 24 hours across two days to meet the deadline. The program's published prizes included five TS-128A and five TS-228A units. The detailed report went beyond the standard winner criteria and received the higher exceptional prize: a four-bay QNAP TS-453Be.

Qfiling was introduced to automate file organization on QNAP NAS. The worldwide beta program ran from 7–24 December 2016 (GMT+8), with 30 testers selected to receive a TS-128 NAS.

Bilal Abid tested the software for nine days and compiled detailed usability, workflow and product feedback over two additional days. The report was uploaded on 31 December 2016, updated on 20 January 2017 and selected as a global winner.
